10 Gigabit Ethernet in Office Cabling
What is happening
The time has come for using 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBASE-T) in structured office and building cabling. Sophisticated technologies, such as the latest WLAN-Standard IEEE 802.11ac and the virtualization trend, require greater bandwidth to the workplace. The market offers fully developed cabling solutions, such as Cat. 6A, which are already in use in data centers and are perfect for 10 Gigabit/s networks in offices and buildings.
Good to know
There are various aspects to be considered in planning a new LAN installation: In comparison to earlier transmission technologies, 10GBASE-T does have the advantage of speed. But it is sensitive to interference. 10GBASE-T reacts around one hundred times more sensitively than 1000BASE-T. And this is bringing a number of changes to the rules of installation.
