DTEK Builds Solid Foundations with R&M

Customer: DTEK, Ukraine
Project: Modernization of the IT networks at several group locations, since 2014
Application: Structured cabling for office buildings and power stations, graded levels with Cat. 6A, Cat. 6, Cat. 5e shielded and unshielded as well as with FO cabling.

Challenge
DTEK is the largest utility in Ukraine and has around 140 000 employees. The distances between the various plants, which are located throughout the country, often come to several hundred kilometers. Taking into account the scope of the business and the fact that most of the buildings housing the enterprises were built decades ago, creating a modern network infrastructure became an increasingly urgent matter, crucial to the economic future of the business.

DTEK is planning on completely changing the internal infrastructure of more than 30 subsidiaries in the coal and energy sector by 2025. The aim is to increase the competitiveness of the group long term.

“Today, IT in DTEK is a full business partner actively cooperating with all business areas. It helps to find and implement IT solutions that significantly improve the competitiveness of the company. It is essential that these solutions have a solid foundation.” Sergey Detyuk, CIO of DTEK

Solution
“It is essential that these solutions have a solid foundation,” says CIO Sergey Detyuk. This is why DTEK opted for the Swiss quality standard and the structured cabling solutions from R&M.

The Swiss cabling has already been used in the Kiev and Donetsk offices, in the Dobropilskaya coal preparation plant and Burstyn thermal power plant.

Result
Cabling solutions from R&M will play a major role in the process of implementing a long-term strategy for the development of the energy giant DTEK.
