Customer: State Enterprise Ukrainian Information and Telecommunication Networks, Kiev, Ukraine / Synergia SE
Project: Restoration and conversion of the Mariinsky Palace, 2007-2018
Application: LAN cabling for 220 ports, Cat. 6A S/FTP installation cables, shielded Cat. 6 connection modules, FO platform for the building distributor.

Challenge
A jewel of the baroque age and one of the most precious ancient monuments in Ukraine: the Mariinsky Palace in Kiev, ceremonial presidential residence. Restoration and conversion required the utmost care to retain the building’s architectural and historical value.

Nevertheless, modern IT and a high-speed data network were also to be installed. Negotiations and receptions, which require stable network connections and fast data traffic, often take place in the building.

Solution

The state institutions and project partner State Enterprise Ukrainian Information and Telecommunication Networks selected the R&M cabling system because it could cater to these high-level requirements.

The efficient and sustainable installation technology from R&M proved to be the optimal solution. It satisfies both the aesthetic requirements and the preservation order. The cabling can be integrated discreetly in the precious building. And it can be used long term which saves further installation work in the coming decades.

The basis of the LAN is a Class E subsystem. The cabling consists of shielded Cat. 6A installation cables and shielded Cat. 6 connection modules from R&M. The FO solution for the building distributor consists among other things of fiber module trays and mini breakout cables from R&M.

The R&M solution was chosen because it could cater to these high-level requirements.
